Nurture Ministry

The Nurture Ministries serve as the heart of congregational support, focusing on enriching the spiritual and communal life of those who are part of the church family. This vital ministry area is dedicated to teaching, preparing, and equipping church members for active and meaningful ministry, both within their immediate community and in the wider world. By fostering deep connections through fellowship, Sunday school, small-group ministries, and a variety of family and children's events, the Nurture Ministries aim to facilitate personal growth in our Christian faith.

Under the guidance of Carol Davis, the Nurture Ministry Chairperson, these programs are designed to empower individuals to become more effective disciples, fully equipped to live out their faith in action and to serve with compassion and dedication.

The Youth and Children's Ministry stands as a cornerstone of the church's offerings, embracing a wide age range from newborns to 12th graders. This ministry is dedicated to creating an environment where young individuals can learn, grow, have fun, and embrace the spirit of service from an early age. With a comprehensive approach that caters to the spiritual, emotional, and social development of its participants, the ministry ensures that every child and teenager has the opportunity to explore their faith and their role in the community in meaningful ways. For those interested in learning more about the varied and vibrant opportunities available through the Youth and Children's Ministry, the church's website serves as a resource for deeper exploration, providing detailed information on how to get involved and benefit from this essential ministry. The "Congregational Care" ministry embodies the church's commitment to supporting its members through times of illness, pain, and life's various challenges. It is a ministry where the collective compassion of the congregation shines, with both members and the pastor actively participating in offering care and support. This includes providing meals, visitation, and even home communion services by the pastor, ensuring that those in need feel connected and cared for, regardless of their circumstances. For those hospitalized or recovering from surgeries and procedures, the ministry extends its reach to offer comfort and companionship. Additionally, the ministry emphasizes the power of prayer, maintaining a weekly prayer list shared in the church bulletin and via email, inviting the wider community to hold each other in thought and prayer. Those in need of care or wishing to request prayers can easily reach out through the contact form on the church's website, ensuring that the pastoral team and congregation can respond promptly and effectively to their needs.

"Small Groups" at Stilwell United Methodist Church provide a diverse and welcoming framework for individuals seeking to deepen their connection with the body of Christ through fellowship, study, and shared experiences. Starting in the spring of 2024, a new Bible Study will convene twice monthly. Additionally, the "Dinner's Out" initiative invites members to enjoy monthly gatherings at various restaurants, fostering community and friendship outside the traditional church setting. There are also different "Grace Groups" that meet weekly for more intimate discussions on scripture, personal life events, or reflections on spiritual wellness. Carol Davis is the go-to contact for anyone looking to join these enriching small group experiences.

The United Methodist Men and United Women in Faith are very active in this congregation as well!
