Bible/Book Studies

For United Methodists, studying the Bible is a foundational practice that helps us grow in our relationship with God and our understanding of how to live out our faith in the world. We believe that scripture is the primary source and standard for Christian doctrine. It helps us discern God’s will, provides guidance for our lives, and challenges us to embody Christ’s love for the world.

But deepening our faith isn’t just about reading scripture - it’s about engaging with it, wrestling with its meaning, and allowing it to shape our lives. That’s why we’re intentional about creating spaces for study, discussion, and practice. Through Bible studies and book studies, we explore not only the words of scripture but also the wisdom of those who help us apply faith to everyday life.

Faith is meant to be lived, not just understood. Whether we’re learning about compassion, forgiveness, or justice, we seek to put what we study into action. Together, as a community, we learn, question, and grow—challenging one another to listen for God’s voice and live out our faith in real and tangible ways.

Sunday Night - Lenten Book Study!

  • Lenten Book Study on Grief – Join Us on Sunday Nights in March/April! This Lent, we are creating space for grief, reflection, and healing. Our congregation will gather on Zoom every Sunday night at 7 PM (March 9, 16, 23, 30, & April 6, 13) for a one-hour discussion of Can You Just Sit with Me? Healthy Grieving for the Losses of Life by Natasha Smith. The Nurture Ministry Team has purchased 20 copies of the book, which are now available for anyone who wants to begin reading (but you can also purchase your own if you'd like). Each week, we’ll discuss two chapters at a time, working through the book’s 12 chapters together. This book offers personal stories, biblical reflections, and practical tools for navigating grief in a world that often rushes past it. Whether you are grieving a personal loss or supporting someone else in their grief, this study is an invitation to slow down, reflect, and find comfort in a community that seeks to grieve well together. The Zoom link will be shared in the church’s weekly Thursday email, or you can contact Pastor Phil directly for access.
